Make me a genius

This video is about a famous chess player named Susan Polgar. It all started when she was just a child her father Laslo Polgar believed in making his children geniuses when it came to chess just like the famous composer Mozart whose dad taught him everything about music at a very young age.He even wrote a book about his plan. In it he mentions that a genius is made a genius and not already born one. He even had his children be homeschooled because he strongly believed that this benefited them more than  regular school did. Over the years Susan became an expert in chess and know has many great abilities like an extrordinary memory thanks to chess and thanks to her fathers raising.

Brilliant Brain

This video is about the Brilliant Brains, its about a young boy known for his great musical abilities. He is Marc Yu. He is known for his ability of knowing by memory over 15 musical pieces. He is not only musically genius, but he also studies subjects that people way older than him study. So his mom homeschools him because he finds nothing in common with other kids. He spends most of his time going to auditions andin the end getting the priviledge to perform along very important and famous magicians.

Homosexuality

In the video we see twin boys who are identical when it comes to appearance, but have two very opposite personalities. One of the twins is into toy trucks and boyish toys and the other twin is into painting his nails he plays with Barbie dolls and his side of the room is pink. That twin is most likely diagnosed with Child Gender Nonconformity meaning the child does not conform with his gender, and identifies himself with the opposite sex. In this video, they also demonstrated an experiment done where scientists started interviewing homosexuals and straight individuals. The purpose of this, was to see whether homosexuality was noticeable or not. Scientist found it is noticeable. They saw how gay individuals acted, dressed, expressed themselves and talked differently. Finally as many might know, homosexuality has not yet been explained, and it is exactly what scientists want to archive. They have Various theories and one of those expresses that homosexuality is hormonal. They came with such conclusion
after studying rats. Scientists express that they are able to change a rats sexuality by altering its hormones Evidently this is what scientists think happen to huan beings. Thy also founda pattern in homosexual males. Theyfound thatolder brothers affect a younger brothers homosexuaity. What is strange, is that this only works if hey are rght handed. To conclude scientists have been trying to explain a very controversial topic, whch is homosexuaity. They have studied twins, experimented with rats, finding patterns and observed differences between straight individuals and homosexuals. The explanation they have been trying to uncover has not yet been uncovered but as time goes by, they are coming closer to reaching their goal.

Mind of a Murderer

Psychologists have conducted studies on these individuals that have been able to explain their behavior. These studies have found out that usually murderers act the way they do, because of brain injuries. Usually, they have had a tough past where they have been victims of abuse and mistreatment which eventually leads to brain injuries which are the reason of their behavior. Any kind of abuse or mistreatment, can result in lobe injuries but when these people are abused, the lobe in the brain that is usually affected is the Frontal lobe. This lobe is responsible for social aspects, reasoning and rational aspects as well. As an individuals´ Frontal lobe is affected, they have a difficulty to manage these aspects. As they have difficulty to manage these aspects they loose their minds or are not able to control their behavior and suddenly they act the way they do as murderers or delincuents. So you could say that in many cases, it is innevitable. Based on some psychologists, things that come and go set delincuents to the edge through time. This is the factor that determines when these people commit the crime. All of this information is what has derived from Dr. Louis´ theory. Originally she had proposed that some kind of brain damage could be a factor that affects these people´s behavior. With the help of Dr. Jonathan Pincus and some murders they have been able to support this theory. This said, she has been sent several times to court, so that she can testify in favor of the murderers. Although in the majority of the cases, this does not help the delincuent get out of jail, but it certainly helps society understand why these people act like they do. In the end a murderer´s behavior according to Dr. Louis is cause when there minds are injured, which causes them to commit these acts that sometimes are innevitable.

Mental Abilities: Genius, Savant and Autism

Explain in detail what "savant syndrome" means:
-A rare condition in which people with developmental disorders have one or more areas of expertise, ability, or brilliance that are in contrast with the individual's overall limitations.
What does genius mean?  Explain the difference between genius and savant.
-Is something or someone embodying exceptional intellectual ability, creativity, or originality, typically to a degree that is associated with the achievement of unprecedented insight.
-Geniuses are usually people with very high intelligence. A savant is usually someone who has extraordinary mental abilities in a particular area.
What is a stroke and how could it affect your mental functioning?
-The rapidly developing loss of brain functions due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. This can be due to lack of blood flow caused by blockage, or a hemorrhage leakage of blood.
What is a functional MRI and how does it help us understand brain activity?
-A type of specialized MRI scan. It measures the change in blood flow related to neural activity in the brain or spinal cord of humans
or other animals.

What is the corpus callosum and what role does it play in your brain's activity?
- A wide, flat bundle of neural fibers beneath the cortex in the eutherian brain at the longitudinal fissure. It connects the left and right cerebral hemisphere and facilitates interhemispheric communication.
What is epilepsy and how might it affect your brain's abilities?
-A brain disorder involving repeated, spontaneous seizures of any type.

What is autism?
-A disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and    communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior.

What is Asperger's Syndrome?
- Is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

Traumatic Brain Injury

Today brain injurys are extremely common they happen when you hit your head extremely hard. The three main types of brain injuries are Contusions Bleeding and Axonal injuries. Contusions are those injuries that show bruising in the brain tissue.Bleeding is a type of brain injury that is known as a hemorrhage, and it affects blood flow and brain tissue. Axonal Injuries are those injuries that axons tear or break and this is severe, because axons send electrical impulses throughout the body, and if your suffer this type of injury, your are likely to have problems with your nervous system. Besides Traumatic Brain injuries theres also Frontal and Temporal lobe injuries. Traumatic brain injuries occur when force is applied to the skull, hurting any lobe which is compressed by the skull. Frontal and Temporal lobe injuries are those who affect the excecutive aspect such as analyzing and decision making. Above all a severe Brain Injury can end up taking someones life if they have an in injury and just because they think its nothing they never go to the doctor to get checked.

READING MINDS WITH MRI'S

Today technology is more advanced than it used to be. A specific machine is the Magnetic Resonance Imaging also known as MRI. At first this machine would only give the doctor a picture of your brain to se whether you had an injury or an abnormality to detect it early. But as time passed doctors discovered MRI's not only show a picture of your brain to se whether you had an injury or an abnormality. But also show what part of your brain was working at that moment. By showing the patient various pictures and at that moment the part of the brain u were using would light up. This shows that the doctors can read minds because on the screen their certain patterns the doctors recognize that tell them what your thinking. This has eventually helped doctors figure out why teenagers act like they do, what drives them to doing those things and it also proves that people become more mature as they become adults due to the fact that the brain stops developing until you´re about twenty years old or so. To conclude, technology has evolved and has even shown to read people´s minds. This occurs through an MRI scan.
